I'm Indiana born and raised, living about 30 minutes from my childhood home. I'm a proud mom to two great kids, one adult and one near-adult, and I have a passion for all things speech language pathology/communication related. I've been married to the same great guy for 25 years. I'm proud to be providing speech language pathology services in the area that I grew up in.
In addition to my private practice, I am a clinical assistant professor at a local university where I am helping to create the undergraduate and graduate programs for Speech Language Pathology in addition to teaching. I teach/have taught courses on phonetics, audiology, anatomy & physiology, myofunctional therapy, speech & language development, treatment methods, health sciences, dialect, feeding and swallowing disorders, evidence based practices, voice therapy and clinical practice. In addition, I am also proud to be the sponsor for the university's National Student Speech Language Hearing Association {NSSLHA} chapter. Our NSSLHA chapter has a strong community focus. I also serve on the college of Health Sciences curriculum committee which helps me stay current with best practices not only in Speech Language Pathology but also Health Sciences.
Over my 20 year career, I have been fortunate to have received clinical training from many wonderful clinicians: Sarah Rosenfeld Johnson , Lori Overland, Mary Massery, Pam Marshalla, Char Boshart, Sandra Holtzman, Cheri Fraker, Susan Evans Morris, Nancy Kaufman, Marsha Lee {COM}, Joseph Stemple and MORE! Their knowledge and expertise has allowed me to become a seasoned clinician with pediatric feeding/swallowing, Apraxia, oral motor placement therapy, voice therapy and myofunctional therapy. I'm a lifelong learner who strives to sharpen my clinical skills with each passing year.
I think that if someone asked me what I felt one of my strengths as a clinical was, I would say that I am client focused. Meaning that I see the entire client, not just the issue. I see their struggles, special circumstances and uniqueness. I take each of those things into account while guiding them on the journey to betterment.
Thanks for taking the time to read about me! I hope we get to connect soon.
